The Information Systems and Educational Technologies Centre is an integral hub for technology and innovation in UTAS - Al Mussanah. We work closely with educators and students for the appropriate use of technology in teaching and in learning. Our projects innovate the medium of instruction and broaden the educational opportunities for learners.

ISETC SECTIONS

Services

​​​​​​​In general, ETC provides the following support and services to the University:​​​

​​​​​​​

  • Communication Services ACT uses various channels of communication such as circulars, notice boards, and LCD TVs. Each staff has his/her own personal computer with Internet connection. E-mail accounts are provided for exchange of messages and information among employees. ETC formed the Network team for network maintenance and Web and Portal team for managing the interactive portal and university website.
  • Information and Learning Technology Services ILT services are managed by ETC. These services include professional instruction and support on campus for technology needs, and providing of technology that enhances teaching and learning. 
  • Tutorials and Trainings Our technicians have specialized skills and knowledge to conduct tutorials and trainings to IT students during short term courses or Enhancement Program Trainings. The topics and contents of the trainings depend on students' request and demands.
  • Classroom/ IT Technologies Upgrade ETC supervises in developing the specifications for technology purchases, provides insights on appropriate technology for application, and assists in coordination of university resources. Our staff has in-depth knowledge about media technology integration.
  • Laboratory Maintenance Technicians are stationed in computer laboratories to assist students during lectures and hands-on exercises. They also facilitate requests and complains and perform installation, upgrade, repair, replacement, or other software services.
  • Equipment / Software Request Providing the best possible educational services to students and faculty is ETC's priority. For hardware or software requirements, technicians are readily available to assist and process requests.
  • Help Desk / Technical Support Technical assistance and support such as classroom setup, computer troubleshooting and hardware components installation are delivered by skilled technicians. There is also assistance in setting up electronic media and audiovisual systems. For any Technical Support, kindly report it in the ETC HelpDesk
  • Graphics and Creative Services Graphics, multimedia, and web-related projects for instructional use or university-related activities are handled by specialized technicians.
  • Printing and Photocopying Services This service caters to desktop publishing and for large volumes of printing jobs such as manuals, hand-outs, examination sheets, etc. 
  • Hardware Repair and Maintenance  The Repair and Maintenance team provides services to keep the hardware, procured by ACT, functional and useful.
